'Let's Curb Pesticides'

The 'Let's Curb Pesticides' campaign is a public education initiative to reduce the use of non-essential pesticides in Waterloo Region. The campaign is jointly funded by the Region of Waterloo and the Area Municipalities: Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot, and Woolwich.

The goal of the campaign is to reduce the overall use of non-essential pesticides. The strategies to reach this goal include:

  • promoting effective lawn care practices
  • providing information about pesticides and pesticide products
  • engaging the public in a variety of ways including community workshops, community events, garden centre information booths, neighbourhood visits, and mass media communications
  • maintaining communications channels with the lawn care industry and garden centres and retail stores selling lawn care products
